License explained · AGPL-3.0

GNU Affero General Public License v3.0

Strongest copyleft. Like GPL, but ALSO triggers when you offer the software as a network service (SaaS). Avoid for most commercial apps.

Permissions of this strongest copyleft license are conditioned on making available complete source code of licensed works and modifications, which include larger works using a licensed work, under the same license.

You can

  • Commercial use
  • Distribution
  • Modification
  • Patent use
  • Private use

You must

  • Disclose source
  • Include the license and copyright notice
  • Network use counts as distribution
  • Larger work must use the same license
  • State significant changes

The license does not

  • No liability
  • No warranty

Plain-English summary, not legal advice. Full text on SPDX or choosealicense.com. Summaries adapted from choosealicense.com (a GitHub project, MIT-licensed).
